BIOMED 151 - Professionalism in Biomedical Sciences II

Course Learning Objectives: The purpose of the Professionalism in Biomedical Sciences II is to extend the content provided in BIOMED 150. The Objectives of the BIOMED 151 can be summarized in to 1) Exploring careers outside of academia; 2) building professional networks, collaborations, and mentor/mentee relationships; 3) grantsmanship; 4) data management; and 5) scientific communication. This course will also introduce and enhance understanding of written scientific publications. Students will learn the components of a scientific article, how to effectively convey content, and critically question and evaluate published work. This course will use lectures, student presentations, and in class activities to explore these objectives. Finally, students will build on their interprofessional education through team-based learning activities that include students from multiple schools within the Health Sciences Center.
