PUBH 6200 - ESSENTIALS OF PUBLIC HEALTH[3 Credits] This course is intended for those students in academic degree program (Both MS and PhD) who lack a background in public health. Students will gain knowledge of public health in both academic and practice settings. This will be accomplished through lectures in the five core areas of public health, as well as other topics, such as health care financing, health and the law, and health disparities. Students will also be expected to attend school wide seminars on various public health topics and complete selected readings. Outcomes of the course include knowledge of the following: 1) the structure and functions of the United States public health system; 2) the five core areas of public health; and 3) the systems used to promote and protect the health of the population.
